In the framework of the directives of Gen. Sa’eed Abbas, Governor of Monofia, to address the those who encroached agricultural land to build on with no permits, Dr. Hamdi Gamie, the Undersecretary of Menoufia Agriculture said that 18 cases (total area of 2 feddans and 13 carats) of encroachment on agricultural land in Sadat City were removed, in September 2018, stressing the continuation of campaigns to remove all violations in early steps before being turned into concrete blocks which are too difficult to deal with, explaining that the violations will be removed at the expense of the violator to stop him from doing so once again. In the same context, Dr. Gamie explained that 44980 feddans of fruit gardens, 110 feddans of vegetable crops and 2519 feddans of bananas were inspected by the Scientific Committee of Infectious Diseases to solve all problems facing farmers and giving them the technical recommendations required to improve such crops , pointing out that the Center for Vegetable Research in coordination with the central administration held 13 symposiums on vegetable crops to increase the expertise and knowledge of garden engineers. Dr. Gamie also stated that all agricultural and cooperative departments in the governorate centers have been alerted to take all precautionary measures necessary to combat the termite pest and reduce its severity. On the other hand, Gen. Abbas stressed on the importance of spreading awareness among farmers to increase the productivity of cultivated areas of fruit and vegetable, stressing the need to maintain the agricultural area and deal firmly with the violators of the laws governing the sale of agricultural land, and increase campaigns to address all proposed violators.
