In accordance with the Governor’s directives to save the lives of citizens from repeated elevator accidents, Dr. Ayman Mokhtar, the governorate’s Secretary General held a coordination meeting with the committees comprised of the projects manager, permits and legal affairs officials, financial and administrative inspection, an electrician, a mechanic in local units to check lifts in residential, commercial, administrative and governmental buildings to take all precautionary measures to maintain the safety of citizens. The meeting was attended by Undersecretaries of the Housing, Utilities and Labor Force, the heads of Engineering departments, and those in charge of lifts in all cities and districts.

Dr. Mokhtar urged the committees concerned in the councils of cities and districts to check the lifts compliance with the Egyptian code, in terms of design, installing and the need to activate the legal and regulatory rules for new buildings or install lifts for the existing buildings all over Menoufia. He also stated that he will not hesitate to take all the necessary legal measures and imposing the most severe sanctions against those who seek to harm the security and safety of citizens.
