 Quweisna Industrial Zone (QIZ)
Quweisna Industrial Zone (formerly Mubarak Industrial Zone) is considered one of the promising zones in investment.

It lies in the East of city of Quweisna, two kilometers away from Cairo-Alexandria agricultural road. It has a strategic location –in the middle of the Nile Delta- it's only 60 km away from Cairo, 25 km from Tanta City, 130 km from Alexandra, and 90 km from Sadat City. Being near form all these cities, it gets its strategic importance appears in marketing goods easily in Lower Egypt which is full of highly populated areas, besides providing a lot of opportunities on integration with industrial zones and establishments in other neighboring governorates and making good use of Damietta (Dumyat) and Alexandria.

 

Quweisna Industrial Zone consists of four stages as follows:

 

The First Stage:

A 543/1994 resolution by the Prime Minister issued to establish this Zone which is 103 feddans (432.600 m2) divided into 108 divisions for the medium projects (260.000 m2) were totally devoted to 37 industrial projects, 26 projects of them have already been on progress, the rest of the area is either streets or service utilities.

 

The Second Stage:

Due to successive demand on the plots of the first stage it was totally taken by the investors, so the Governorate bought 104 feddans (436.800 m2) to the Second Stage to meet the Investors' needs. The area was planned and divided into 393 divisions; each division is about 520 m2. A resolution (3682/1999) issued by the Prime Minister to annex this whole area to QIZ.

An area of 245.000 m2 was devoted to industrial projects and the rest of it was planned as streets. Also an area of 25.620 m2 was devoted to build the Mubarak-Kuhl technical school with the aim of providing the factories with well-educated and trained workers to deal with up-to-date production technologies. Another area of 34.640 m2 was devoted to set up plants of high pressure in favor of the Zone and the whole Middle Delta area. There are still 76 plots available for the investors in this stage.

 

The Third Stage:

Due to more demand on Mubarak Industrial Zone to set up giant projects on large areas, a 3682/1999 Prime Minister resolution was issued to give the go-ahead sign to the Third Stage, so 100 feddans (420.000 m2) were bought and devoted to a group of companies for example "Toshiba Al-Arabi" for producing appliances such as air-conditioners, refrigerators, TV sets, washing machines, other home appliances and plastics, reserving and dehydration of food products, electric appliances and food products.

 

The Fourth Stage:

113 feddans were bought from the holding company for mining. A resolution concerning annexing this stage to QIZ is under study. By annexing this Stage, there will be headquarters of compound industries such as weaving and ready-made clothes industry to meet the needs great companies of spinning, weaving and dying in Al-Gharbiyya Governorate which needs to modernize this industry as it has not these vast areas found here in Monofeya Governorate.

The area was planned in collaboration with the College of Engineering, Cairo University, and divided into 60 plots each division is about 4500-5000 m2.

Due to urgent need these expansions and being about to carry out this Stage. The Governorate does its best to carry it out soon as it will provide 30 000 new job opportunities.
