Sadat City lies at the 93th Kilo Cairo-Alexandria Desert Road. Its area is 500 km2. The total population is 18 km2 divided by 12 sectors. There are 70 000 people living in it. It has also five industrial zones on 5 million m2. It's surrounded by a green belt estimated by 30 000 feddans that's why the WHO puts the city as one of the best ten industrial communities in the Middle East Area for its clean environment and safety of natural resources. It has four industrial zones including 258 industrial projects, 153 projects under construction, 5 projects outlined by 416 projects and there's a big compound for producing iron and steel. It is the second city of the first generation built up by the Authority of New Population Communities in 1976. Its unique location between Cairo and Alexandria on one hand and the Nile Delta on the other hand has made it of great importance to be a great center of attracting both local and international investment.
Industrial Investment:
Industrial Investment is the backbone of development in Sadat City. The annual outcome of Sadat City exceeded L.E 4.6 billions in 1996. The Industrial Zone was planned to lie on the south of eastern area of the city in order to protect the population from steams and noise resulting from industrial activities.
Agricultural Investment & Food Security:
The general chart of the city contains about 30 000 feddans as a green belt extends around the city that's considered to be one of the city's landmarks in the desert. 20 000 feddans were reclaimed and now grown by grocery and fruit crops. There are also two centers for Agricultural Researches and Desert Development.
The Land Expansion:
On 26 March 1997, the Minister of Housing, Utilities and Population Communities laid the foundations of annexing five million m2 to the regional main road to cope up with the investment requirements in the city. Projects of infrastructure such as establishing and running sewerage networks, paving the roads, providing water resources and electric power needed for 2.5 million m2 have ended and the process of privatization to investors has started.
